Chapter Two: The Auran. - Page 2 Empty Re: Chapter Two: The Auran.

Post by Nick Mon Dec 03, 2007 9:53 pm

She tried more to feel around and extend her eyeless sight, a mental squinting if you will, but it only made her feel as though a migraine was all she would receive. She was very shattered inside it felt, but she had a vague notion of direction.

Histlan's concentration was broken the moment she heard the footfalls though, for the briefest moment of unfounded hope she turned at her waist in hopes that who she sought was right behind her and fine. It was extraordinarily brief though, as she found the foot steps were not at all like Origin's would be, they were a man's and a uninjured on at that. He cleared his throat to subtly announce his presence. A social manner of sorts she asumed.

Normall when troubled she shied away from concern and help, most especially from strangers but this case was different and it wasn't her ownself who could be affected. "Yes!" She said quickly, turning fully to him. Her chin raised up, she could hear through his voice that he was taller than her, and she acted as if looking at him, but of course was not in most people's sense.

"I'm afraid there may be!" She looked back towards the direction she believed her notion lied from. "The woman that just left before me, she's younger I believe, and injured. She should not be up let alone walking around." Histlan turned back once more, her a lips tight and curved down at their edges with concern. "I fear there is someone with a potentially ill will with her." She stated strongly, that despite all her words of uncertainty and she did truly think that this was the case.

Vasquiri gestured to a nearby tree, "You should rest," he said sweetly,"All of that walking must have tired your wound. We would not wish it to reopen, would we?"

He was releasing species pheramones at an alarming rate, knowing soon she'd be sweet and pliant and willing to do anything he asked. It was how he knew she was what they were looking for. These hormones had no effect on any other sort of female.

Origin felt light headed, as if she'd drunk far too much wine. She sunk down against the tree, her eyes drooping behind her blindfold. She couldn't think straight.

Vasquiri sat down on the opposite side of the tree and began talking fluently in his native tongue, rambling out an old child's tale about rabbits as amiably as a puppy. She could not see his face, one that was smiling innocently at the forest beyond while she lay in a half dazed state on the other side of the tree.

Ony a few more minutes and she'd follow him to the ends of the earth, and none would be the wiser.

Sachieal cimbed up out of the stream and lit a flame around himself in the hopes to dry himself off. He had no issue with temperature, his demonic skin could take both extremes, but he didn't like the feeling of being a drowned-rat.

He climbed to the top of the ridge and looked around, stretching. In the distance, a good distance at that, Sachieal saw the faint outline of two figures. One was resting under a tree, the other standing close. He thought nothing of it, it was probably two lovers out for a stroll.

"Ready to go, Miss Calcifer?"

His mouth turned downwards in a frown. From what he could see of her features from that angle at first looked elated but quickly changed to an expression fraught with disappointment. The woman turned towards him and he stood, one arm resting atop the other as he listened to her explanation. A wayward patient, was it? She must have quite the formidable amount of willpower to be up and about with an injury. Ivaylo’s gaze followed the same direction the woman’s had taken, listening to what she was saying closely. Her strong final statement caused his eyes to shift back to her. Though her voice came out firm, his ears caught on to a certain apprehensiveness; she really cared about the injured girl’s well-being.

That was all the motivation he needed. Ivaylo shut his eyes, arms dropping to his sides as he momentarily blanked his mind, thinking back and picturing where he’d left his weapons. They’d been leaning against the far wall in the infirmary, among other’s as they’d been in need of a place to keep them out of the way for the time being. The clear image sprang into mind and he grasped it, mentally uttering a command. ”Come.”

For a brief moment nothing happened. Seconds later the short swords sprang up, well above the heads of the occupants inside the healer’s clinic and carried themselves over to where they now stood. Both weapons halted, dropping down to where he caught the handles in either hand.

“Can you pinpoint which direction you think she’s gone?”

Histlan waited for a reply from him, concerned that every moment that went by was another moment she could of or should of been doing something. She turned from him again trying to keep that lingering notion as strong as possible. She thought of where she'd been sitting when she found it and affirmed herself that she was right. Of course between now and then who knows what kind of shifts in their paths could have been taken.

She glanced back over her shoulder as she felt something slightly, the heightened sensitivity to magic she possessed for undefinable reasons was alerting her, he was doing something. What precisely she did not know until she heard the sounds of things being caught into his hands, the palm very light clap was a rather distinct noise in itself, though varied due to what it was being caught and the presence often of gloves. Even then, her understanding of it was vague, that was not what her focus was on currently.

When he asked for the direction she looked back in the way she'd orginally looked. Pinpoint...? Let us hope. "I don't know precisely, but it was in that direction I last felt it." She said with a bit more certainty now, raising her hand quickly and pointing very specifically with one finger.

Chapter Two: The Auran. - Page 2 3276

Odei crossed the field with wide strides, a dark expression on his face, almost scowling like a stone gargoyle. It was near mid-day when he was finally released from the main hall of Azrian, after a long, long discreet discussion between him, Vasilios, Emaran and further high figures of both the Lumerian and Umbrovian parties.

A discussion that turned Odei’s sense of relief around, leaving him both numb and irritated. If a few days ago he felt that his best choice had been to leave Pendragon Manor and return to his nomadic, warring lifestyle, now he realized that he might have gotten himself into something far more complicated. Something he wasn’t sure he wanted part in, and yet at the same time wasn’t sure he had much of a choice.

‘It all starts again.’ He thought bitterly; he knew he would be watched by the high lords from this day forth – the feeling of freedom as a Dark warlock roaming about without fear of prosecution was over as now he was even watched by his own kind. He would have to be careful with every move he’d take.

Now he had to fetch the other members of ‘his’ squadron, though he was in charge of no one some hours ago, it was – surprisingly- Vasilios’s choice. Odei was not a leader, nor a person who cared for the responsibilities, prestige or power of one… but that too was not a choice.

Hell… he didn’t even know WHO the hell were part of ‘his’ squadron! Origin was one, that’s for sure, and so he would start with finding her to share the rather interesting details of the morning’s discussion. After several inquiries and getting pointed into all directions, Odei caught a glimpse of the girl.

He now stood by her, eyes momentarily running over the soldier he had never seen before sitting near her, sensing the darkness within and studying it, but paid him no attention; he might be from the infirmary, seeing that he obviously showed interest in origin. Odei felt a hint of disliking towards the complete stranger without knowing why. Better sense told him the man was probably sly, but took no further interest – the place was swarming with dark warlocks, many of them as disreputable as Odei himself. He looked away, back at the girl; Origin looked queasy, weak, and his eyes studied the bandaged hip. “You got injured?” He asked with surprised concern, yet the scowl still in his features. “Is it bad…? And judging by how green you look I don’t think you should be out here.”

Odei felt a sudden weight within. Was this the work of Abaddon?

Vasquiri jumped up from his space beside the tree, reguarding the dark warlock warily, his fangs extended. He was protecting his catch. Origin looked to have a heightned wariness of Odei as well, since she was now linked to Vasquiri's senses. She still knew nothing of the Abaddon.

"What do you want," he growled, blocking Odei's access to the girl. Unlike her usual fiesty self, she sat back against the tree, allowing Vasquiri to handle it. She had a half-scared, half-dreaming look in her eye, as if all of the trust She'd begun to build up with Odei had gone to rest on the soldiers of this tattoed stranger.

And to top it all off, she was blushing.

Vasquiri smiled smugly, straighteneing up and rolling his head, a primitive gesture that accentuated the muscles of his neck and shoulders, daring Odei to take a step closer. As long as the girl stayed within sniffing distance of him, she was blind to anything but his towering form. That is, until his appeal started wearing off.

He had to work quickly, and get her back to Olorafien as soon as possible.

Chapter Two: The Auran. - Page 2 3276

Without a wince, nor budge, expressionless, silver eyes met the angry flashing ones of the defensive, animalistic stranger with a cold, hard stare. Fangs gleamed white, reflecting the sun’s rays as the demon arched his neck, flexing the muscles there and daring Odei to…

To What? Who was this idiot? And Why? All tidbits of information that now was none of the Sagan’s concern. Sleepless. Haunted. Lost. Arrested and locked away for forty-two hours. Interrogated. Oh… not to mention: STARVED. By now, Odei was not at the limit of his patience. He was beyond it.

(Erin, sorry, don’t know what Vasq is wearing at the moment, so I will just take a shot at it.) The world was silent to everyone’s ears save for the two dark men; muffled snarls, growls and eerie cries echoed forth from every shadow, as Odei’s Umbri sensed the tention, and gathered there from the dark of the Auralis to watch – and hope that they would get their share of a fresh kill. It was only a second later that the surface of Vasquiri’s breastplate began to crackle and hiss as if it were wood set on fire, chunks flaking to the ground in a rusted heap. The hem of his tunic followed; the soft fabric curling and twisting, growing moldy and dark before it too fell apart and joined the rusted heap below.

Then it found his skin, the burning sensation snaking at considerable speed to this shoulders, back, and up that stupid, bulging neck. The skin turned first a light, reddish hue before yellow blisters rose along the blood-red stains, then faded into a muddy green of dead flesh, the stench of rotting carcass rising from the wounds, and seemed to come from the very innards of the demon.

Vasquiri was being eaten alive by the Surda, these parts of his body dying at the mere, deadly touch of the dark aura emitted from Odei and fueled by his rising rage. The soldier could not pick a worse time to ask for a fight. Odei would not waste time with it; he would just kill the demon on the spot.

And yet, despite the building frustrations within and the urge to let it go… to squeeze that neck, Odei was not losing his mind, nor was Vasquiri falling apart, for this was a mere ‘preview’, a demonstration of illusionary magic of only a tickle of what was to come if the demon did not back down and step aside. Vasquiri still did have a beating, healthy heart in his chest… now it was up to him if he wanted to keep it.

Finally, Odei moved, coming closer, his eyes glazed with black, silver specs recapturing the attention of his challenger. “Come again?” His voice a mix of the snarls of Umbri and his own, a wicked smile forming, revealing his own set of fangs.

Sachieal sensed tension through the air. It was aft-battle quarreling, that's to what he attributed the nagging sensation of danger. He had decided to escort Calcifer through the woods on foot; normally. If she were to tire, he'd rush her back the way they'd gotten to the stream. The day was growing more beautiful by the second, and it was a wonder to think that just days before there was a massive storm pummeling the region.

As they walked, Sachieal pointed out all the minute details of the world. He spoke of the sciences, some true, some false. It would seem that Sachieal knew much of the world. To this, he was a scholar. Sachieal spent many eons looking upon the earth as it matured, and he believed it to be one of the only good things the devine had given him.

He was not so vain to consider the world his, by no means. It was true Sachieal was superior in many ways to mortals. Devine resistance, extended lifespan, unparalleled magical prowess, strength and speed beyond even the behomoth creatures that lurked the halls of purgatory. Sachieal reminded himself to stay alert, while he was on earth, he could die, and if he died too early, he'd not make it back to heaven. His journey would not be for nothing, Sachieal assured himself that.

Sachieal thought upon Calcifer as they walked. She was quite a companion, and he enjoyed her company. He thought she had great potential as a water-mage, and with a little bit of refining, she would come to learn to conjure her own water. Then I'd never win in a water fight!

Sachieal chuckled at his own thoughts and continued to walk through the forest.

"Sachieal im glad your my friend"she said quitly and kindly as they walked.
Calcifer loved the woods,nature itself.

Sachieal looked at her inquisitively and then his brain clicked. Friendship, human emotion, the warm feeling; got it. "Well Calcifer, I'm glad you're my friend too!" He smiled as he stepped over a tree root that came up from the ground, as if to trip him. Not this time tree, you'll get some other person though!

Chapter Two: The Auran. - Page 2 967340

The girl began cautiously backing away, wanting nothing to do with the rising feeling that was causing the hairs on the back of her neck to rise. She reached for her walking stick, propping it up and hoisting herself to a standing position, wobbly, but not immoble.

Vasquiri's eyes darted behind him. She was getting away!

"Stay near Love," he said, nodding his head towards the wide trunk of a tree not a few meters away, "I shan't let harm befall you."

He gritted his teeth and blocked out the immense pain he was feeling, concentrating until it was a dull, warm throb on his chest. He knew it was an illusion, the female would have hobbled off long ago had she known what he saw and felt.

"I am not that easy to intimidate," he said, a low screech slipping out between his teeth. His entire body seemed to be held back by tension cords, ready to spring at the slightest movement. He and his brother's future depended on the success of this venture, and he was not about to lay down and let this strange male have her.

"What do you want of her, felljan?" he reasserted, accepting the challenge.

Calcifer giggled happily, she half pranced along side sachieal as they walked.Soon she would have to be back inside the stuffy building to help heal the wounded, she had a talent for it though.Seeing how the body was made up of alot of water she could minipulate it.That came in handy for wounds that would not stop bleeding.

She lookde at sachieal..."how did you heal so fast?..."she asked quitly.

Chapter Two: The Auran. - Page 2 789290

Felt it? What sort of senses did this woman have? Once given direction he bolted, not pausing to stop and see if the woman would follow, having a feeling she was going to but if she didn’t well then she didn’t. Ivaylo wasn’t one to normally jump at the role of ‘hero’ but the wounded girl was on the same side as they were. A comrade-in-arms, if you will. And the Serka took care of their own, no matter who you might be - they were all in this together, right?

He took a route off the winding trail in attempt to make better time, keeping direction in mind as he went. The foliage along the ground and some of the lower-hanging branches bent and twisted themselves out of the way as if by their own will - it freed his arms for balance as he ran and eyes to watch the ground, wary of a fallen log or jutting tree root that could prove hazardous should he trip. The man chanced a glance around his shoulder for the briefest of moments to see that she was indeed running after, not very far behind. A relevant question came to mind that he now felt he should have asked earlier before darting off. Though he didn’t know the extent of her ability to ‘feel’ other people’s presences, it was as good a time as any to know.

“How far?”

Chapter Two: The Auran. - Page 2 3276

‘Love?’

Odei knew nothing of Origin’s past or private life. She did not confide in him as would a friend, yet her body language of the moment was odd to him, Odei would not have for a moment thought that it was actually him she was backing away from, interpreting her submissive, withheld demeanor as ‘fear’ of this stranger, for to him Origin was always the loud, aggressive, ‘punch first, ask questions later’ loon. Her current manner was not like Origin at all, shying away, silent, without defending this man if he truly was a ‘lover’.

The words of Emaran and Vasilios suddenly rang in his ears from the morning’s discussion; they were HIS responsibility now. The leaders asked him to gather his men to aid him for his new ‘mission’, but said nothing more. As a Sagan warrior – this meant protect them with your life. The good ones, at least.

The cloth forming the sling that held Odei’s dark, shattered arm rippled as if moved by a breeze. The Surda within it woke and as long as he stayed intact to the dark magic his arm would function and remain painless as if it were not shattered at all.

In a matter of seconds the white cloth frizzled and fell apart into rotting flakes, Vasquiri’s face was snatched up by Odei’s powerful grip, fingers tipped by elongated black claws wrapped around the demon’s head, making it impossible for him to pull away. Next the demon was air born, swung around by the head, and then released. Vasquiri was cast across the field like a rag doll, crashing hard against the turf and rolled across the remaining distance before smashing into a young tree, coming to a stop.

“Stay here.” He said, glancing for a moment at the strange expression of Origin’s face, then unsheathed he sword, crossing the field towards the demon with determined strides. A dark elf followed by a woman came running out between the trees. He passed them without a glance, and though not knowing who they were, he gestured with his hand over his shoulder towards Origin. “Take care of the injured woman ‘till I’m done, will you?”

He now stood some short distance from the demon, ready for a pounce or attack, sword ready, shadows rippling with excited Umbri. The attention of small groups of soldiers resting scattered in the distance as they rested in the sun started to come closer as they wobbled through the snow, some of them slapping each other on the backs excitedly, murmering ‘fight!’.

Odei’s voice came low, commanding, the black magic already snaked about his skin to form dark symbols. “Get up.”

Chapter Two: The Auran. - Page 2 Empty Re: Chapter Two: The Auran.

Post by Nick Wed Dec 05, 2007 10:55 am

Histlan heard him take off, even felt the shift tin the air as his movement suddenly became quick, and she moved to follow trying to be just as quick, as to keep a closer of distances between him, listening to his strides and footfalls, they were the only concrete clues she had while she tried to sense Origin and the other being out again. He'd have to work as her sight for now and hopefully he woudn't make any stupid choices. She tucked her walking stick under her arm and ran as quickly as she could, trying to keep her feet on pace and hoping her strides were at least more similar than not. As they got to the rougher path, she fumbled minorly and momentarily disliked his choice, but all in all it was the the direction she'd shown and she worried that time was of the essence so she just tried to keep going still. When her foot came down on less flat ground she tried to use it to push off instead of letting it slip. The path was even harder to do so on thanks to the hard ground and patches of snow and ice.

Her chin rose up as she thought she felt something new in the distance. It didn't sit well with her at all. It seemed dark and of conflict, but famillar in the vaguest of ways. 'How far?' He'd finally spoke again and ask her. "It's this way!" She answered most sure of it now and just thankful that her notion had been correct for all the doubting she'd done while mulling over it. "I think we're almost - " Her calling forward ended abruptly as they covered so much space in so little time that they'd stumbled on to the scene before her last word came to surface. She slowed forcing her body to stop, not sure for a moment where the man she'd been following stood now that his feet had ceased as well, she hadn't been listening for that. "... there." She muttered in conclusion in a quieter tone.

She shifted uncomfortably as she sensed the scene now before them and the new figure there, one of very strong dark arts. So much so in fact that it made her apprehensive to even stand there. It was not a feeling she wanted to permit at all but it didn't seem at all easy to shake. She glanced over to where Vasquiri had ultimately landed and stopped in his skid. She'd been right... it was him. And the other... the man who'd eagerly and abruptly rushed into the battle days prior?
She stepped back slightly, but he spoke of an injured girl and though she could not see his gesture Histlan's attention moved over to the area where Origin now was.

Her reason for being there in the first place was clear once more and she moved with her arm outstretched slightly. Her hand touched very briefly on Ivaylo's coat and then she quickly moved past him, aware more of where she was. Her steps quickly finding their way to Origin. She stopped a foot or so short and kneeled down, gloved hand reaching out once more to in fact find Origin momentarily and it only took a slight touch for her to pull back her hand and shift herself closer. "Miss. Are you alright?" She asked, trying to remember if she in fact knew any of what had been wrong with Origin in specific. She needed a cane of sorts was all she could recall from having heard the tap of it and her feet, one lighter than the other when she'd gone by her in the infirmary. Something perhaps with her leg?

Sachieal watched as Calcifer pranced her way through the forest. He found her jesting to be quite entertaining, and the time passed without notice as they continued to walk through the forest.

He watched her inquisitively as she inquired to the speed that his wounds healed. “Oh, about that.” He almost tripped at the very notion of telling her about his past, but he had promised to explain to her everything. His winged incident of almost-breaking down the infirmary door probably needed justification too. “Well, when I told you that I’m a demon, Miss Calcifer, I was being truthful.” He smiled softly. “That’s why I can manipulate hellfire and sprouted my wings yesterday.

They continued through the forest a little bit. “Being a demon also allows me to heal faster, upon other things. I live longer than mortals, that’s one of them.” He stopped to hold a low-hanging branch out of her way. “Does that answer your question, Miss Calcifer?”

The overly jocular laughter that emitted from Sachieal was probably off-putting to sincere little Calcifer. "Well, I suppose it would be if one were to spend much of their life alone, that's for sure. I had to deal with that for a while, and let me tell you; Angels will try anything to try and kill themselves." He tried to stay calm, but the horrors of Angels impaling themselves upon the Spear of Longinus only to revive seconds later and try again was almost too much for Sachieal to handle.

"Well, that's why good old Lucifer decided to go against God himself. You see, Lucifer thought it somewhat against what God created for us to have to live for eternity and suffer through the boredom of watching the world go by. Well, God didn't really like that idea, so he tried to cast Lucifer, a few other Archangels and I down into hell. We were too perfect to kill, so he had to create imperfect angels, many of them, to send us down into the hell he created."

He walked quietly for a while, and Calcifer continued to follow him, waiting for the next part of the story. "Let us stop and rest here for a while, Miss Calicfer. I'll continue my story." Sachieal sat against a great Oak and cleared his throat. "God was merciful, however, and allowed us to die if we were to take human form and die a mortal death. Of course, we'd either wind up back in Heaven or Hell, so it's not too much better, really."

Sachieal chuckled, "I'm sorry, Miss Calcifer, that all is beside the point. You see, life this long does get lonely, that is true. However," He looked at the great tree roots that surrounded his temporary seat. "when you finally realize that you are older than the world you are sent to live on, and that you know of all it's beauty, all it's glory, all the power that's upon it, you begin to lust for more than the harshest cold and most searing fires of Hell."

"I found out how to come up from Hell. Being here, seeing and manipulating this world firsthand, that's how I find justification to keep living." He reclined against the tree and ran his hand across the large roots.

"There is something special that is going to happen to this world, very soon. It might save it, it might destroy it. I want to be here to ensure that it does whatever it's supposed to."

Calcifer had sat down next to sachieal, and listend carefully.she smiled"well im glad that your so optimistic about it."she took her bottle off her back and set it next to her.she leaned back against the tree and looked up into its branches.she thought about the last thing sachieal had said, after pondering that she decided to let it go and took the cork out of her bottle and begun to play with the water alittle bit.it was a natural habit to do when she was just sitting.

Sachieal watched the girl play with the water from her bottle. It was mesmerizing, to say the least. An evil smile spread across his face as a sly idea ran through his mind. "You know, Miss Calicfer, you're probably the only person anywhere around her who practices their magic as much as I do."

He snapped at the floating shapes of water, and they froze at his will, halting their transformation. Sachieal chuckled at his work. "That's payback for beating me in that water fight." He grinned a huge grin. "Remember, Miss Calcifer, those of the Demonation are vengeful creatures."

The girl screamed when she saw Vasquiri's body fly in an arch across the air. She felt for a moment as if her heart was being torn from her.

Then the scent was out of range. She cleared her thoughts, gasping and looking around, disoriented, but rather calm. Histlan was approaching in the distance, along with some other dark male that she couldn't quite place. She stood up with the help of her cane and shook the leaves from her skirt.

"I am unharmed," she said flatly, moving towards the clearing with a sense of haste. This hip of hers was becomeing a nuisance, but she did not push it, lest it become a true bother.

Odei looked ready to snap poor Vasquiri's neck in two. She limped up behind him, afraid to touch the snaking black magic that enveloped his arm.

"He did not harm me Odei," she said, shifting on her feet, "He only took me for a walk. Do you think it strange for one such as me to have company?"

Vasquiri gathered himself from the ground, now out in the open, he had room to stretch his wings. They unfurled slowly, flapping lazily in the wind. His confidence had returned. When Odei had cast him across the field he feared the spell broken, since she could not possibly smell him so far upwind. But obviously she was unaccustomed to flattery when in an alert state as well. Her defense bode well for him.

He could not help it though, when he saw her hobble into the clearing, her face wonderously cross, he wasn't quite sure if he could simply hand her off when the deed was done. He puffed out his chest a bit more and screeched at Odei, a challenge that would split the ears of anyone within a mile if he let it. But his female was near. He checked his anger, and took to the air.
